As the comment above mentions, Gerald Durrell is books about his expeditions collecting animals for zoos r very good. 'Beasts in my Belfrey' is about his experiences as a young man working as a zookeeper at Whipsnade. 'Menagerie Manor' is about his zoo on Jersey.

You might also like David Taylor is Zoo vet books, of which there r several. They seem to be out of print, but there r plenty of second-hand copies available on Amazon, or u might be able to get them from ur local library.

Gerald Durrell is books are wonderful. He had a zoo, was a naturalist, wrote a series of memoirs, a good deal of which involved his experiences with animals. The first one was My Family and Other Animals or maybe The Overloaded Ark. If you only want to read about his zookeeping years, check for the later ones, such as Beasts in My Belfry. They're funny, they're wonderful, but they may not all be in print. Get the library to get them for you if you can not find them.

The Zookeepers Wife is an interesting book about zookeeping, conservation & war. It is about the wife of the zookeeper at the Warsaw Zoo in Poland. Most of it is about the role they played in the Occupation, they used the zoo to house resistance fighters & Jews.
We Bought the Zoo is about a man who buys a zoo with his siblings & mother.
My Seven Years in Captivity was written by the former PR director at the San Diego Zoo, so it is a bit more accessable.
Zoo Tales is by the first resident vet at the London Zoo.
